U.S. Air Force, 2007: airmen at Moody Air Force Base tested the Active Denial System, a 95 GHz heat-pain beam. The Air Force says over 10,000 volunteer exposures caused little injury. The service grading its own weapon.
The ADS beam is invisible and operates on a 95-gigahertz millimeter radio frequency wavelength that moves at the speed of light. The effect penetrates the skin at 1/64 of an inch which causes pain receptors to react.
