Murthy v. Missouri: Supreme Court Opinion (2024)

Court Filing · Supreme Court of the United States · June 26, 2024

U.S. Supreme Court, June 2024: the plaintiffs had no standing to seek an injunction, so the Court did not decide whether the government contacts were lawful. It also noted platforms had their own reasons to moderate. A standing ruling, not a clearing of the government on the merits.

We begin—and end—with standing. At this stage, neither the individual nor the state plaintiffs have established standing to seek an injunction against any defendant. We therefore lack jurisdiction to reach the merits of the dispute.
