CIA Inspector General: Report of Audit, CIA Processes for Engaging With the Entertainment Industry (2012)

Government Record · CIA Office of Inspector General · December 31, 2012

The CIA Inspector General's 2012 audit of how the agency deals with Hollywood. It found the CIA's records could not show its entertainment requests were handled consistently or fairly. Declassified in 2015 after a Judicial Watch request.

We found that records maintained by OPA are not sufficient to document that entertainment industry requests to CIA for briefings, interviews, visits, and other support are handled in a consistent and fair manner and that engagement with the entertainment industry is effective in furthering CIA’s goal for engagement.
