52 U.S.C. 30106 – Federal Election Commission

Government Record · United States Code · 2023

The statute that creates the FEC: six voting commissioners, no more than three from one party, and four votes required for major actions.

No more than 3 members of the Commission appointed under this paragraph may be affiliated with the same political party.

Subsec. (a)(1)

Bears on the FEC deadlocked three to three line. SUPPORTS the structure behind it: an even six-member commission with a three-per-party cap and a four-vote requirement, so a party-line split stops action. The statute shows the design; it does not count deadlocked votes.
