Moore v. Regents of the University of California (1990)

Court Filing · Supreme Court of California · July 9, 1990

California's Supreme Court ruled that John Moore, whose cells were used to develop a commercial cell line, could sue over the doctor's failure to disclose, but had no property claim to his own excised cells.

We hold that the complaint states a cause of action for breach of the physician's disclosure obligations, but not for conversion.
